TL;DR: As of Aug. 26, you can save up to 27% on popular pet tech products for National Dog Day, including Whistle’s bestselling GPS dog trackers and DNA test kits from Wisdom Panel and Embark.

Aug. 26 marks National Dog Day in the U.S., and we’re marking the occasion the best way we know how: by rounding up a bunch of awesome deals on the latest pet tech.

For a limited time, you can save anywhere from $20 to $50 on the following GPS dog trackers and dog DNA test kits. (FYI: All three brands mentioned have nabbed spots on Mashable’s “best of” lists — we’re big fans of this stuff.)

GPS dog trackers

Got a bolter or wanderer? A GPS dog tracker makes it easy to monitor your dog’s movement and behavior for the ultimate peace of mind: Simply attach the device to their collar and install its companion app on your smartphone to keep tabs on their day-to-day activities.

We found two bestselling models on sale on Amazon: Get the standard Whistle GO tracker in taupe or blush for around $73 (usually $99.95), or upgrade to the longer-lasting Whistle GO Explore in grey for $106.87 (normally $129.95) — you’ll be saving at least 18% either way.

Dog DNA test kits

What’s your mutt? Find out with a dog DNA test kit, which uses teensy amounts of your pooch’s DNA (typically obtained via cheek swab) to produce a detailed breakdown of their family history and genetic makeup. Some tests also include screenings for potential medical complications and drug sensitivities so you can keep Fluffy happy and healthy for years to come.

Wisdom Panel and Embark are the two biggest players in the dog DNA test game, and both of them are offering discounts on their kits this National Dog Day:

  • Embark: Enter the code CAMP50 at checkout to save $50 on Embark’s Breed + Health Kit (normally $199), which tests for over 350 breeds and more than 190 genetic health conditions/traits.
