The goodest result of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris’ historic victory? Dogs coming back to the White House!
As celebrators flood the streets and gleefreshing becomes a national past-time, Dog Twitter (aka most of Twitter) has been celebrating the return of canines to the executive branch. After four long dog-less years under the Trump administration (wonder why), the Biden family brings with them Major and Champ — two very good, very large German Shepherds.

Champ, the older of the two, has been with the family since 2008 when Biden came to the White House as former President Barack Obama’s VP. Major, however, only joined the family in 2018 after the Bidens adopted him from the Delaware Humane Society — reportedly, making the presidential pup the first rescue dog to live in the White House.
Rated 14/10 by the popular WeRateDogs account, the Biden furbabies have been widely celebrated on the internet. The notoriously sassy Room Rater even gave them a 10/10, saying they have a “lovely room but they need to pack.”
So, to celebrate a historic day for human- and dog-kind alike, here’s a whole bunch of people talking about these dogs, joking about these dogs, sharing photos of these dogs. You deserve it.
When all the madness is over, there will be dogs in the White House again. Meet Major and Champ. Major is a rescue dog, first fostered and then adopted by the Bidens. Champ is a lovely 12-year-old they’ve raised from puppyhood. pic.twitter.com/oFRaALazf1
