The next Nintendo Switch Online games include Donkey Kong Country 2

Nintendo has announced the next round of games to be added to the ever-growing Nintendo Switch Online retro library. The headliner is Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest, the 1995 sequel to the original Donkey Kong Country that was added to Nintendo Switch Online back in July.

I will be straight with you and admit that I am not a Donkey Kong Country fan. But I am a Picross fan, so I’m excited for the next addition: Mario’s Super Picross, a 1995 SNES game that has never been released in the US. (It did see release on the Wii and Wii U Virtual Console in PAL regions, though.) Read More

Twitter expands election misinformation rules to include posts that claim victory prematurely

(Reuters) — Twitter said on Thursday it would label or remove misinformation aiming to undermine confidence in the U.S. election, including posts claiming victory before results have been certified or inciting unlawful conduct to prevent a peaceful transfer of power.

Twitter said in a blog post it was updating its rules to recognize the changes in how people will vote in the November 3 election and try to protect against voter suppression and misleading content on its platform.

The widespread use of mail ballots in the U.S. election due to the coronavirus pandemic will likely cause significant delays in tallying results, which some experts fear could allow misinformation to gain traction. Read More

GoPro’s Hero 9 Black might include a color front screen for vloggers

It’s not certain when the Hero 9 Black will ship or how much it will cost, provided the leak is accurate. GoPro has timed recent launches for late summer or early fall, however, so it may just be a matter of weeks before a new model arrives.

This could be a particularly important launch. GoPro made significant job cuts in the spring as the COVID-19 pandemic hit and hurt both retail sales as well as the size of its customer base. You don’t have as much incentive to get an action camera if it’s not safe to go on adventures with your friends. If the front display helps with video, this and the company’s Twitch-like streaming service could expand the audience for the Hero line to include more vloggers and social media enthusiasts who want to document their lives. Amazon’s back-to-school deals include a $75 Echo Plus

Buy Echo Studio on Amazon – $170 Buy Echo Studio on Best Buy – $170

There are other deals beyond these two, although they’re not the lowest we’ve seen. The Echo Dot with Clock is available for $40 at Amazon ($20 off) if you need help waking on time for morning classes. The Fire TV Stick 4K is selling for $35 ($15 off) for after-hours TV marathons. And if you want to studying using digital books, the basic ad-supported Kindle is available for $70 ($20 off).

The Echo Plus hasn’t been updated since 2018, but that’s not a bad thing. It produces a richer sound than the standard Echo without consuming much more space, and it can get your smart home started quickly thanks to its built-in smart hub and temperature sensor. The Echo Studio, however, is what you want if you’re more of a stickler for sound. We found it quite capable for the money, and it even benefits from high-quality audio services like Amazon Music HD. It’s just a question of whether you’re willing to pay nearly $100 more for the privilege. Read More

Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Live may include active noise cancellation

The text may also indicate they’ll include active noise cancellation (ANC), a first for Samsung’s Galaxy Buds lineup. If ANC is something these headphones feature, it will be interesting to see how they counteract ambient sounds without silicone ear tips; none of the leaked photos we’ve seen of the Galaxy Buds Live suggest they come with any kind of tips. That’s an important detail because nearly every pair of ANC in-ear headphones you can buy at the moment comes with silicone ear tips since they help create a physical seal between your ear and the outside world. It’s when you have that seal that the technology works best.  Read More

Samsung’s latest Q-series soundbars include a $1,800 9.1.4 channel option

“In collaboration with Audio Lab in the US, we have been able to develop multi-dimensional surround sound that can be more accessible at home, which was previously only possible with a separate home-theater system,” said Seong Cho, a Samsung Electronics senior VP.

Both soundbars support Dolby Atmos, DTS:X from DTS and eArc support. They also include the SmartThings App and Alexa voice services, so users can command music streaming services like Amazon Music, Spotify, TuneIn and iHeartRadio.

On the design side, Samsung made these soundbars slightly shorter to fit with the 2020 QLED TVs. They’re both 69.5 millimeters tall, compared to previous soundbars which are 83 millimeters tall. And they’re wrapped in custom, recycled textiles, made by the Danish brand Kvadrat. Read More

Apple surveys customers on old chargers amid rumors iPhone 12 won’t include one

Is Apple really going to stop including the power adapter in-box for your brand new iPhone?

These surveys may be hinting that, at the very least, the company is strongly considering it.

Two people have recently posted screenshots on Twitter of an Apple survey they received after purchasing a new iPhone. The survey specifically asks each user what they did with the charger from their old iPhone.

“What did you do with the USB power adapter that came in the box with the iPhone XR that you replaced?” asks Apple’s survey to Twitter user , which was first discovered by . Read More

Hey Apple, here’s some other shit not to include with iPhones

Looks like the rumors are gathering pace: the iPhone 12 might not come with a charger or earbuds in the box.

You might think this is a shameless cash grab, a way of forcing you to shell out another $60 or $70 just to use the product you already paid around a grand for, but you’d be wrong. This is capitalism, baby.

Let’s put it out there: Apple needs our help. As of writing, the company was only the second most valuable in the world, with a market cap barely nudging $1.5 trillion and a paltry $192.8 billion in cash reserves. Read More
