OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition teaser leaves us with more questions than answers

An exclusive OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Edition is on the way, and will be available for pre-sale on November 4 before the game launches. But, sadly, it might only be released in China.  The collaboration between OnePlus and Cyberpunk 2077 studio CD Projekt Red was announced during the OnePlus 8T launch event in China, with a short teaser video showing off the phone within the game, later uploaded to OnePlus’ Weibo account. Whether it will actually appear in the long-awaited RPG is uncertain. Get the best Xbox Series X deals before anyone else! OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei confirms he’s leaving the company

Carl Pei has in many ways been the public face of OnePlus, along with fellow co-founder Pete Lau. But today, after seven years with the company, Pei announced he was leaving in a blog post on OnePlus’ community forums. It’s unclear if there’s any specific reason for his departure. Rumors have suggested Pei is moving on to a new venture. It’s not unreasonable to assume he might do so eventually, but Pei’s own post doesn’t suggest that’s a primary reason his reason for leaving: “I’ve never regretted trusting my gut feeling, and this time it’s no different. These past years, OnePlus has been my singular focus, and everything else has had to take a backseat. I’m looking forward to taking some time off to decompress and catch up with my family and friends. And then follow my heart on to what’s next.” Other, unsubstantiated rumors have suggested there was a falling out with Lau, but Pei thanked him in his post: I am eternally grateful to Pete for taking a chance in this kid without a college degree, with nothing to his name but a dream. The trust, mentorship, and camaraderie will never be forgotten. Thanks for the opportunity of a lifetime. Pei helped start OnePlus when he was 24 and has been one of the major players responsible for building the company’s brand, most recently spearheading the launch of the Nord line. Corporate gossip aside, I look forward to seeing where Pei ends up, but I hope he does…Continue readingOnePlus co-founder Carl Pei confirms he’s leaving the company

These wonderful OnePlus 8 deals for Prime Day are taking our mind off the 8T

Thanks to Prime Day deals 2020, we’re seeing some tasty discounts on excellent handsets released only this year. And with a newer, snazzier version just around the corner, today’s sales bonanza has shone a spotlight on the crowd-pleasing OnePlus 8. When it was released in April, we marvelled at the OnePlus 8’s FHD+ display, affordable 5G capabilities, pulverising power and welcome features such as reverse and wireless charging. In short, it’s a fabulous phone and provides good company to better known brands like Samsung, Apple and Google. The sticking point however was always the price of OnePlus 8 deals. In creating its best ever range of phones, OnePlus also launched its priciest. Of course you get what you pay for, but we’d always delighted in previous iterations how the manufacturer was able to keep costs so low. Thankfully, it’s now down to an all new price for Prime Day at Amazon – and it’s a bit of a showstopper. Grab it on Tuesday or Wednesday and it will only cost you £399! That’s over £100 less than we’ve seen it since release, so we’d suggest pouncing on it now as we’d be surprise if stocks last long. Meanwhile, the 8GB RAM 128GB storage version of the bigger, better iPhone 8 Pro has £150 off the RRP and so comes down to a much more attractive £649. While you can pump things up for an extra £100 if you want the souped-up 12GB RAM 256GB storage model – now £749. OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei leaves the company to start a new venture – TechCrunch

Carl Pei, who co-founded the smartphone giant OnePlus in his 20s, has left the company, two sources familiar with the matter told TechCrunch. Pei played an instrumental role in designing the OnePlus smartphone lineup over the years, including the recently launched OnePlus Nord, which has been the company’s biggest hit to date. Outside Shenzhen, China, where OnePlus is headquartered, Pei has also been the face of the Chinese firm, appearing at trade conferences, interacting with loyal customers and giving interviews to the media. In the early years of OnePlus, Pei devised various marketing strategies for best positioning the company’s products and creating hype about them. In 2014 and 2015, when OnePlus struggled with scaling its inventories, the company sold its phones through invites and several other clever marketing techniques, including one in which people were required to destroy their current phones to buy a new OnePlus smartphone. Also in the early years of the company, Pei lived almost exclusively in low-cost hotels in China and India to better understand the market and easily travel to new cities. OnePlus is now one of the most successful premium smartphone makers in India and several other markets. “We didn’t have proper product management. What we lacked in experience, we made up in hours,” he said in an earlier interview. He talked more about the company’s early days and the state of the smartphone market at Disrupt 2019. Once he publicly asked Samsung to hire him so that he could learn more about overseeing…Continue readingOnePlus co-founder Carl Pei leaves the company to start a new venture – TechCrunch

OnePlus Nord N10 5G and OnePlus Nord N100 tipped to show up on October 26

We’re big fans of the OnePlus Nord, so anticipation is high for future devices in the range. OnePlus has promised that a Nord device will be coming to the US at some point, and now we might have a potential launch day: October 26. The date comes from reliable tipster @OnLeaks, who says that OnePlus is going to make an announcement at 12pm GMT on October 26. That’s 5am Pacific time and 8am Eastern time in the States, so you’ll need to be up fairly early if you’re there. It’s a prediction that lines up with other rumors we’ve heard, and OnePlus itself has been dropping hints on social media that something is coming very soon. While we don’t know exactly what we’re getting on October 26, the consensus seems to be that these are two more phones for the mid-range market. All of this is separate to the launch of the OnePlus 8T, which OnePlus has scheduled an event for on October 14. That’s going to be more of a premium device, following on from the OnePlus 8, and we’ve already heard plenty about the handset. Those phones in full We don’t know a huge amount about the Nord N10G 5G, and even less about the Nord 100. It’s likely that the latter phone will be the cheaper of the pair, lacking 5G connectivity and sticking with 4G to keep the price as affordable as possible. As for the Nord N10 5G, a previous leak has pointed to the…Continue readingOnePlus Nord N10 5G and OnePlus Nord N100 tipped to show up on October 26

OnePlus tipped to launch the Nord N10 5G and Nord N100 in October

OnePlus is set to launch its flagship phone -the OnePlus 8T next week and it seems this is not the only phone OnePlus will be launching in October. Reports suggest that the company may launch a couple of phones under the Nord lineup by the end of this month. According to tipster, Mukul Sharma, the devices that could make their debut are Nord 105G and the Nord N100 and as we already know the Nord lineup aims at the affordable category of devices. He, however, also added that these phones could be heading for a US launch and may not be available in India. To recall, OnePlus launched the OnePlus Nord back in July and was sold primarily in Europe, India, HongKong and Malaysia. Exclusive: OnePlus Nord N10 and OnePlus Nord N100 devices are set for launch by the end of this month.#oneplus #OnePlusNordOctober 5, 2020 OnePlus Nord N100 – The surprise element?  Quite like the availability of these devices, there is little information around the specifications of the Nord N100. However, going by the fact that the other device is a 5G capable phone, this one could just come with 4G connectivity.  It could be the cheaper variant of the OnePlus Nord that has made some noise in recent times, unfortunately not much is known about this device.  OnePlus Nord 10 5G – What we already know  Going by the previous leaks, the OnePlus Nord N10 could be the budget OnePlus phone launching in the US instead of the…Continue readingOnePlus tipped to launch the Nord N10 5G and Nord N100 in October

Latest OnePlus 8T leaks reveal camera module and handset size

We’re very much looking forward to the unveiling of the OnePlus 8T on October 14, but authentic-looking leaks continue to roll in to give us a preview of what this flagship phone is going to bring with it. Our latest early look at the OnePlus 8T comes courtesy of case maker Case Mate (via Phandroid), which has posted a listing for one of its cases that shows off how the rear camera module of the phone has been designed (see below for the image). The listing doesn’t really reveal anything that we haven’t seen before in earlier leaks, but it would seem to confirm that the OnePlus 8T is going to come with a quad-lens camera on the rear –  48MP + 16MP + 5MP + 2MP with ultrawide capabilities, we’ve been hearing. That’s one more camera lens than the OnePlus 7T and the OnePlus 7T Pro had, though the main sensor sticks with 48 megapixels. We’ll have to wait and see what OnePlus has done on both the hardware and the software side to improve camera performance. (Image credit: Case Mate) One other little nugget of information that has just come in about the OnePlus 8T is its size: 162.8 x 75.5 x 8.4 mm (9.3 mm with the camera bump), according to well-known tipster @OnLeaks. That’s a little bit bigger than all the handsets we’ve seen from OnePlus recently, including the OnePlus 7T, the OnePlus 8, and the OnePlus Nord. However, it’s probably not going to move the…Continue readingLatest OnePlus 8T leaks reveal camera module and handset size
