How an athlete with Parkinson’s inspired TikTok’s 3D printing community to invent an accessible pill bottle

Jimmy Choi was diagnosed with young-onset Parkinson’s in 2003. Since then, he’s crushed 100 half-marathons, 16 marathons, an ultra-marathon, and holds the world record for most chest-to-ground burpees in one minute. 

Choi, an avid TikTok user, often highlights some of the daily struggles of life with Parkinson’s. A video he posted showing his hands trying to pick up medication while shaking went viral. Within days, a 3D printing community assembled on the platform to invent a dispenser that can isolate a single pill.
