Netflix treats ‘Cowboy Bebop’ fans to the opening credits sequence

If you already know Cowboy Bebop from its original, beloved anime series (which is streaming on Hulu, FYI!) then this video is going to look mighty familiar.

Netflix has a live-action remake of the series on its way, and on Saturday the streaming giant dropped something even cooler than a trailer: An early look at the show’s opening credits. And wouldn’t you know it, the live-action sequence is a stylized carbon-copy of the anime’s original opening.

If you’re looking for a Netflix that expands on the anime and takes it in new or different directions, this may not be what you were hoping to see. But it’s a slick first look that offers people who don’t know the original — which I’d wager accounts for a big chunk of the Netflix audience — a sense of the tone and style of this bonkers series.

You won’t have to wait much longer to see it. Cowboy Bebop comes to Netflix on Nov. 19.
