Paper Mario: The Origami King(opens in a new tab) is a new-school Mario adventure that seeks to rekindle the fun of the Paper Mario classics many of us grew up playing. Players must defeat the evil King Olly, who’s folded up the denizens of the Mushroom Kingdom into origami minions. It’s up to Mario to set things right again in this colorful romp. Mashable’s Kellen Beck said it’s “as close as we’ve gotten to the beloved originals” in his review, so if you’ve been hankering for more Paper Mario, this is one Switch must-have that’s well worth picking up.

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening(opens in a new tab) may be one of the most creative remakes the Switch has seen. It’s a massive visual update to the Game Boy original and a beloved gem from the Zelda series. It follows Link as he finds himself stranded on the strange Koholint Island, guarded by the whale-like Wind Fish. Players must fight enemies, solve puzzles, and search for the eight instruments that will allow Link to wake the Wind Fish and escape from the island. Mashable’s Kellen Beck called it “charming” and loved its big improvements over the original in his review.
BEST ROLE-PLAYING GAME

Persona 5 Royal(opens in a new tab) is an updated and upgraded edition of one of the best RPGs to come out of the genre in the past decade. The original came out in 2017, but this update makes the lengthy play portable and comes with all the window dressings of its OG brethren complete with new characters and activities, revamped battles, and more mechanics. Players take control of a high schooler with a bad reputation that follows them to their new school. Accused of a crime they didn’t commit, it’s a sprawling tale told with gusto and plenty of style.
